About Yvonne Friedli
The Swiss soprano Yvonne Friedli studied at the "Hanns Eisler" Academy of Music in Berlin with Norma Sharp and Thomas Quasthoff. She was a member of the interpretation class of Julia Varady and the Lied class of Wolfram Rieger. Master classes with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Peter Konwitschny and Irvin Cage complete her education.
Since her successful engagement at the Landestheater Neustrelitz as a lyrical soprano (Gilda, Pamina, Lucia) and in the so-called intermediate subject (Donna Anna, Poulenc "la voix humaine", Undine) she has continuously expanded her range of parts with Christiane Libor, Berlin and Georg Christoph Sandmann, Dresden/Leipzig with the demanding roles of the youthful dramatic subject (Elsa "Lohengrin", Elisabeth and Venus "Tannhäuser", Agathe "Freischütz", Micaela "Carmen", Mariza "Countess Mariza", Rosalinde "Fledermaus").
At the same time, she regularly performs as a concert and oratorio singer at prestigious venues (Zurich, Berlin, Oxford, Vienna) with Brahmsrequiem, Mahler 8, Honegger "Roi David", Janacek "Glagolithic Mass", Bruckner "Te Deum", the Bach Passions and others.
Her commitment to contemporary music came to fruition at the Konzerthaus Berlin with Paul Heinz Diettrich's "Verwandlung", at the Berlin premiere of Alfred Felder's "Atesh" at the Philharmonie Berlin, at the "Intersonanzen" festival in Potsdam with the world premiere of Andreas Staffel's "ÜBerlin" and at the world premiere of Cathy Millikan's "alles was besteht" at the Tonhalle Zurich. Furthermore, a CD with songs by the Amberg composer H. E. E. Walter was released on "NEOS MUSIC" in 2013.
Lieder recitals (R. Strauss, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Brahms) complete the extensive repertoire of the artist.
About Andreas F. Staffel
The composer, pianist and performer Andreas F. Staffel is one of the most versatile and iridescent characters of the contemporary music scene. His compositions comprise full-sized orchestral pieces, operas, film and theatre music and variable chamber and solo music pieces.
In his capacity as a pianist and performer, the one time student of Prof. Oleg Maisenberg’s masterclasses works together with all kinds of ensemble, soloists and orchestras in the domain of 20th century classical music and chamber music. Staffel also works with DJ´s, Rockbands and actors. His own duo, named “ad lib." (in collaboration with the soundartist Julius Holtz) combines composed music with live electronic music, improvisation and video art.
The highly expressive music of Andreas F. Staffel often plays with the respective limits and taboos of the various genres. His unique sense of sounds and language is marked by great frankness and curiosity towards new and unknown fields. Many of his works are inspired by contemporary paintings such as those of Gerhard Richter (an artist that Staffel particularly adores). The pianopiece “Magic squares”, on the other hand, is based on a painting byPaul Klee. Literature is another great passion of Staffel’s.
