The music
2019 is the 101st anniversary year of the famous impressionist Claude Debussy as well as of Lili Boulanger, who created a phenomenal overture despite her short life of only 25 years.
The two subtle song cycles "Ariettes oublíées" by Claude Debussy and "Clairières dans le ciel" by Lili Boulanger are both masterpieces of impressionist song art. Lily Boulanger's "Theme et Variations" for piano has also attracted attention in the course of the discovery of her work.
Still little known are the works of Germaine Tailleferre, a member of the famous "Groupe des six", which is presented here with a cycle for solo piano: "Fleurs de france".
Maurice Ravel was a friend of Germaine Tailleferre, whose famous and enigmatic "Deux mélodies hebraiques" is the soulful conclusion of the concerto.
