Due to a Covid 19 illness of Andreas Staffel, the event cannot be held. The course will be made up in April.
Covid-19 hygiene concept: The Covid rules that are current for Berlin apply. Since 04.03.2022, this means for Berlin: In closed rooms, the 3G model including FFP2 mask obligation must be applied at events with more than 10 participants.
Lecturer: Andreas F. Staffel
In this module we take an in-depth look at Bartok's Suite op 14 (1916) and the Balletmusi to The Miraculous Mandarin (1926) as well as Hindemith's Suite 1922 and its Kammermusik 1 (1922). We experience the epochal importance of these two composers, who are considered the main representatives of so-called classical modernism. This both in relation to the work of their contemporaries and far beyond their time. Why, for example, did Cologne's mayor Konrad Adenauer have Mandarin banned, and why was Hindemith generally regarded as the bourgeois terror of the twenties?
As always, on the grand piano and explained with numerous historical examples.
